Requirement:
- Computer with Windows operating system
- Computer with available USB port
- Any web browser
- Windows .NET Framework 4.0+
Reader installation
- Plugin scanner/reader USB to computer
- Turn on the reader and should have blue light (one light only with "POWER").
- Install the driver and download the following link. Once installed, the passport reader should be visible in the Device Manager
- Download the Passport Reader EXE software from this link
- Unzip the downloaded ZIP file name "passportReader.zip" to C: drive
- Under C:\passportReader, find "PassportReader.exe", you can right-click to "Pin to start" for faster access
- Open Run command box by pressing Windows logo + R keys. In the Run command field, type shell: startup and then press Enter key to open Startup folder.
- Right click on "PassportReader.exe", select "Create Shortcut"
- Drag the shortcut created into the startup folder in point 7, so on your next windows restart, it should auto startup and hide under the taskbar
- Try run it by double click on the "PassportReader.exe", it'll hide under the taskbar
- If driver and exe all ok, you can open the icon by double click the "E-HORS Passport Reader Interface" and should open up this window. You can now test OCR to read a passport or ID.
Install lightweight PHP service on the computer to handle the reading between middleware of E-HORS Passport reader interface
- Download "Laragon" from this LINK or our fixed archived HERE
- Execute the installer downloaded, first option ONLY chose "Run Laragon when Windows Starts", rest uncheck.
- Once installation is complete, it should start Larafon in your "Taskbar"
- Double click to open the interface, if the service started, chose "Stop", we'll need to do some quick configuration to Laragon
- One-Stop, select the gear icon on the top right of the windows to configure the Laragon
- In "General" you should have the setting as follow, except for the "Document Root" and "Data Directory", rest should follow as highlighted
- Under Service & Ports, make sure have following service also. Important is the Apache port with "8888"
- Mail Catcher and Mail Sender shall disable as we do not need such service as follow:
- Once configured, just save by closing this "Preferences" windows with "x" icon on top right.
Then you shall "Start All" - If all is correct, you should have this in the Laragon window.
- Now we'll put an "index.php" file into the "Root" Directory. Open the WWW root directory by clicking the "Root" Icons
- It will open your directory root folder windows and should only have 1 file called "index.php"
- Now download the middleware to talk between the browser and the PassportReader.exe from this link
- Unzip the passportReaderPHP.zip to the root folder of step 12
Now you shall able to click on the "Scan Image" from program Guest Profile
